Analytics and cookie choices

There are two kinds of measurement here and only one of them is optional.

• Strictly necessary: your sign-in session and the cookie remembering your privacy choice. These cannot be switched off — without them you cannot stay signed in.
• Analytics: site traffic and product usage (PostHog, hosted in the EU), performance metrics (Vercel, cookieless), and the view counts a portfolio owner sees. All are covered by the single analytics choice, and declining stops them. PostHog sets one first-party cookie; declining after accepting stops capture and removes it. No view is recorded at all for a visitor who has declined.

How a view is recorded

A visitor is identified by a keyed hash that changes every day, so the same person cannot be recognised from one day to the next or matched across two different portfolios. Raw IP addresses are never stored. Referrer URLs are reduced to their origin.

Changing your mind

The Cookie settings link in the footer of every page reopens the choice. We ask again periodically rather than treating one answer as permanent.
